Following on from August’s rebrand and new website, which I’m now pleased to say is complete (visit www.chimera-productions.org.uk), the new season-launch of Blank Canvas on 17 September at Cafe Oto with jaw-dropping and inspired performances from juice, Shlomo and the Camberwell Composers’ Collective, I’m now gearing myself up for my NMP co-production with Tate Britain.
Late at Tate: Beyond Scale takes place on October 2nd and features a whole host of live contemporary classical performances, highlights include the 2008 and 09 DMC World Champion DJ Switch performing Gabriel Prokofiev’s Concerto for Turntables & Orchestra, hi-octane percussion led music with an electronic sound and strong visual performance from Powerplant led by genre trashing percussionist Joby Burgess, a unique electro-acoustic composition by Chris Wheeler performed by the Heritage Horns exploring eighteenth century ideas of the sublime with horns heralding from the lofty heights of the Duveen Gallery and lastly what will no doubt be a fascinating discussion exploring the parallel histories of modern art and modern music with author David Stubbs and composer Gabriel Prokofiev amongst others – I’m really very excited about this!
